Lesserbees, anyone? Hopefully I'll get some from this pairing.......

January 16, 2010
You never can tell what is going to hatch out, but from the looks of the pairings so far, 2010 could be an exciting year! I've posted some pictures of pairings that I'm excited to see. Phantom x Yellowbelly, Phantom x Spider, Lesser het Ghost x Mojave, and my reduced Spider male x F2 Pastel female (she's in shed)........I know, Bumblebees are pretty commonplace nowadays, but I think this pairing is a good example of selective breeding. His reduced pattern and light colour combined with her clean yellow should produce some stunning Bees!

Merry Christmas! Things are picking up around here, and there have been some exciting pairings happening! Here are a few pictures of recent pairings. The first is a Phantom x Spider, and the second is a Lesser het Ghost x Pastel het Ghost (not locked, but courting).

November 14, 2009
The breeding season is off to a good start.......several good pairings have been observed already. My Phantom male has started breeding already, and this morning, I found Het Pied x Pied and Lesser het Ghost x Het Ghost.

October 28, 2009
The 2009/2010 breeding season has started at Genesis Pythons! My Lesser Het Ghost male was observed breeding a large normal female last night. I have some exciting plans for this year! I will try to update the Potential Offspring page in the near future so that you can see what I hope to produce in 2010. Stay tuned for updates....

Thanks to everyone who came out to see me at the CRBE! It was great to meet so many new people. I had no idea so many people were following my journal page! I guess that means I'll have to make sure I keep it updated! Here is a picture of my booth from the show, as well as a few photos of some really cool BPs from other booths.

The hatching season is finally over......what a busy summer! I've got to say a big thanks to all of my customers who have supported my business, I've sold a lot of 2009 babies already, and it's been a great season. My final clutch to hatch was from a Pastel x F2 Pastel pairing. The results were fantastic! 1.1 Super Pastels, 1.2 Pastels, and 2 normals. I was really hoping for a female Super Pastel, and now that I've got one, she is staying right here!
See you all at the CRBE!

August 25, 2009
Only 24 more days until the CRBE! This is going to be an expo like no other, and we are thrilled to be a part of it! We will ONLY be vending on Saturday, September 19, so be sure to stop by and see what's on display! We plan to be displaying: Albinos, Piebalds, Phantoms, Pinstripes, Spiders, Bumblebees, Lemon Blasts, POGs, LesserBees, Super Pastels, and more!

What a HUGE day! The "mystery" Pinstripe has hatched, and wow! What an amazing looking snake! It looks almost like a Genetic Stripe with a bit more side pattern. And the colour is intense in person, pictures do not do the snake justice.
Here's the story. I bred multiple males (Spider, Pastel, Pinstripe) to this normal female. Since the Pinstripe was last seen breeding with her, I hoped that at least some of the babies would be Pins. The first baby pipping out was a normal. No surprise there. The next one I cut open, and it looked like a Pinstripe. I was happy. But upon closer inspection, it looked like more than just a Pinstripe. The pattern was way off. The more I peeked in at it, the more it looked different than your typical Pinstripe. There are two normals in the clutch, as well as another "normal" that is completely striped with a messed up side pattern. There was also an egg that died, and when I cut it open, it also looked like the striped baby. So the total count of surviving babies is 1 "Mystery" Pinstripe, 1 "Mystery" Normal, and 2 Normals. I'll put up pictures of the "Mystery" Normal once it's out of the egg.
That was the good news.
The bad news is that the "Mystery" Pinstripe has a slight kink in its spine. There were some temperature fluctuations during the early part of incubation for this clutch, so I'm thinking it might be a developmental deformity. The parents weren't related at all, so I'm hoping it wasn't a genetic deformity.
So maybe the "normal" mom is carrying some hidden gene? Maybe both the parents are both heterozygous for some recessive gene? Maybe the appearance is simply due to environmental fluctuations during incubation? Either way, you can bet I'll be breeding those two together again to see if the trait is genetic. Stay tuned, this is just the beginning!

Albinos AND Lemon Blasts have hatched! This is the first time I've hatched out Blasts, and they look amazing in the egg. You wouldn't believe how purple their heads are unless you see them in person. And there were 1.1 Lemon Blasts, so I'm pretty happy about that! I've included pictures of both morphs below.
I've got a clutch hatching right now........there's a Pinstripe in the egg........but it looks like more than a Pinstripe??? Stay tuned for updates!

July 14, 2009
Wow, it has been busy around here! There have been lots of babies hatching recently, including Cinnamons, Pastels, and my first Pinstripes. That is a really fun morph to hatch out. The first one out was a female and she looks amazing! See the picture below. I also had my last clutch of the year laid. It was from a Pastel x Pastel pairing. I'm hoping for some really nice Super Pastels from that clutch......it would be nice to have some females to hold back!
Coming soon (hopefully): Albinos, Lemon Blasts, Spiders, Bumblebees, POGs, etc.

June 15, 2009
Nice clutch last night from my female Spider.......hoping for some reduced pattern Bumblebees!
I threw in another Phantom picture as well. The final ratio was 1.4 Phantoms!!! I'm keeping 0.3 and letting go of 1.1. See the Currently Available page for details.

June 13, 2009
Phantoms have arrived!!! As far as I know, these are the very first Phantoms to be hatched in Canada. And the exciting part? There were FIVE Phantoms in this clutch! Only two of the Phantoms are out of the egg yet, and they are both females.......which makes me a happy camper.
Anyone who knows anything about the Phantom gene knows that there is HUGE potential with this project. Phantom crosses will probably look similar to Mojave crosses, but the Super Phantom crosses? They should be out of this world! I'm really looking forward to making Super Phantom Spiders and Super Phantom Pastels, among other things......more pictures to come!

June 5, 2009
More Phantom eggs! This female just laid a nice clutch of 7 eggs. I actually caught her in the act of laying eggs, as you can see from the first picture. And I also just got eggs from the Lemon Blast project.......another 7 eggs! What a great day that was.......the incubator is packed!

May 23, 2009
Albinos are on the way! Well, hopefully anyways. This Het Albino female was bred by the Albino male and just laid 6 eggs. Hoping there are at least three Albinos in there.

May 16, 2009
The first hatchlings have arrived! Seven healthy babies, with the results being 2.0 Het Red Axanthics, and 2.3 Normals. I've included a picture of one of the Het Red males. Another clutch has been laid from Pinstripe x Normal, and the 16th female of the year has ovulated. I expect her to be the last one of the season. She is an F2 Pastel female and is stunning. I'm hoping to produce some incredible looking Super Pastels from her!
Next clutch due to hatch should include some Pinstripes.....

May 6, 2009
Eggs, eggs, eggs! They just keep coming! I was really excited to find this clutch come a few days early. It's the first of two clutches this year from Pastel het Ghost x Het Ghost. This was only her first year breeding, and she laid 8 eggs! I can't wait to see some little faded beauties hatch out of these eggs.

May 4, 2009
The incubator is filling up! I have two more clutches laid, both of them from a Cinnamon male x Normal female. The Cinnamon male was here on breeding loan, as you might have noticed that I don't have any Cinnies on my collection page.
I'm currently waiting for clutches from these pairings in the next week or so:
Pinstripe x Normal
Pastel het Ghost x Het Ghost
Pinstripe x Normal
Albino x Het Albino
I've got some great crosses I'm hoping to hatch out a little later on.........stay tuned!
April 29, 2009
More Phantom eggs! This big normal female laid nine eggs, and she was bred exclusively to my Phantom male. Expected hatch date is June 22. My Spider female just ovulated as well, so hopefully that means some Bumblebees are on the way!

April 21, 2009
Some really exciting things have been happening lately........
1) Another big female from the Phantom project ovulated.
2) The Pinstripe x Pastel pairing finally paid off.......the female Pastel ovulated, so hopefully some Lemon Blasts are on the way!
3) The 3rd clutch of the year arrived on Sunday. 9 good eggs from a Pinstripe AND Phantom bred to a normal female. These are the first eggs that could potentially contain Phantoms.......now the clock starts ticking! Expected hatch date is June 13.

April 13, 2009
Happy Easter! Just thought I would share this picture of a gravid female Het Albino. I wasn't sure if she would produce anything this year, but now I'm expecting a clutch of eggs from her......so hopefully that will mean some nice baby Albinos this summer!

March 31, 2009
Another big clutch today! Expecting lots of little Pinstripes in this one! There are 8 good eggs under there, and the expected hatch date is May 24.

March 26, 2009
Just another exciting Pinstripe x Pastel pairing. Lots more eggs are on the way too!

March 19, 2009
I caught one of my Het Ghost females starting to ovulate this morning. She looks really big, so hopefully that means lots of eggs and a better shot at getting some POGs!!! With a Pastel het Ghost x Het Ghost pairing, each egg has a 1 in 8 chance of being a POG. So, if I get 8 eggs out of her, I should get at least one POG (theoretically). But, the odds can swing either way......personally, I hope they swing on the up side!

March 13, 2009
This was really exciting to see! This female was bred by my Phantom, and is now ovulating. She is my largest female, weighing in at over 3000 grams, so I'm hoping she produces a whole pile of eggs!

March 3, 2009
Things are really moving along nicely this season! We've had a number of ovulations already, and the incubator is all ready to go! For those who may be wondering, ovulation is the process in female snakes where mature follicles are pushed out of the ovaries and into the oviducts. It's during this process that fertilization happens, as well as the formation of egg shells. The process is marked by a huge midbody swelling in the female. Once ovulation occurs, the female is gravid (=pregnant) and she is going to lay eggs. No further pairings with a male are necessary. Around 20 days after ovulation, the female will shed her skin, and then ~30 days after the shed, she will lay her eggs. I've included a few ovulation pictures in this post for anyone who may be wondering what the event looks like. Feel free to shoot me an email if you ever have any questions about breeding Ball Pythons........I'm always happy to help!
I've also included another picture of the Phantom male breeding.....

And the Phantom!

February 26, 2009
Here's a pairing that I'm really excited about. This is a Pinstripe x Pastel. I'm really hoping to produce some Lemon Blasts this year! While it's a cool morph in itself, the Lemon Blast is also a key stepping stone to many other incredible combinations.
More females are starting to ovulate already, and many others are building up to ovulation........time to get the incubator ready!

February 13, 2009
What a busy month for pairings! Lots of females are showing good signs of development, so hopefully there will be some exciting things hatching out this year. Here's a good shot of an Albino x Het Albino pairing.

February 11, 2009
Here's yet another breeding happening. This is a Pastel x Pastel pairing. The female Pastel has been paired up with a male Spider, Pinstripe, Phantom, and now this Pastel. However, today was the first time I observed her breeding. If she does produce eggs, it will be very interesting to see what's inside!

February 9, 2009
I'm trying to keep the website more updated when things are happening! Here's a shot of a male Pastel breeding a female Spider. They are both exceptional specimens of their respective morphs, so hopefully the pairing will result in some incredible looking Bumblebees!
Stay tuned for eggs in March....

February 2, 2009
More Phantom sightings!!! This female has been bred by my Pinstripe as well, but today the Phantom was breeding her. What will the babies be? Only time will tell.....

January 29, 2009
Happy new year! The breeding season is progressing nicely, and we hope to have lots of amazing morphs available this year.......including the first Phantoms in Canada! We also hope to have some crosses for sale this year, including Lemon Blasts, Bumblebees, Pastel Orange Ghosts, and maybe some Spinners!
We've also had our first ovulation of the year......our earliest one ever......so we'll see what comes of that.....

September 27, 2008
Well, I finally have gotten around to an update! It was a bit of a slow season at Genesis Pythons......including some disappointing odds on what I hoped would be exciting clutches! Hopefully this next season will be somewhat better. Here's a picture of 3 males who are eagerly hoping to be ready for this season!

March 17, 2008
Be sure to check out the new collection page for the awesome new additions to Genesis Pythons! And one of my females is due to lay eggs this week, so stay tuned.....

March 6, 2008
The breeding season has been progressing nicely, and one of my normal females is gravid already! She was 2500+ grams before breeding, so I'm hoping she has a nice big clutch. That could potentially mean having the first hatchlings of the year in May! There are also several other females showing promising signs, so we'll see what happens this summer. I'm really hoping for some nice Spiders, a few albinos, and maybe a POG!
November 12, 2007
The 2007/2008 breeding season has officially started here! I woke up on Saturday morning to find a couple of pairs breeding. These included my het albinos, and my Het Red Axanthic male x normal female. I haven't observed my Spider male breeding yet, but he's definitely thinking about it!
Be sure to check out the Potential Offspring 2008 page to see what I hope to produce and have available next year.

October 2, 2007
My last clutch of the year hatched last week from Pastel x normal. The eggs yielded 2.0 Pastels and 0.1 normals. One of the Pastel males is the best looking Pastel I have ever produced......his busy pattern is amazing! Pictures below.
Well, I'm getting set for the next breeding season and planning what pairings are going to happen this winter. This is what it looks like so far:
Spider male x several normal females
Pastel het Orange Ghost male x het Orange Ghost female
Pastel het Orange Ghost male x several normal females
Het Albino male x Het Albino female
Het Red Axanthic male x normal female
Keep an eye on the Potential Offspring page to see what I hope to have available next year. I'm hoping for a bunch of really nice reduced pattern Spiders!
September 6, 2007
Although I had a few disappointing clutches this summer............I did produce ALBINOS!!! My het Albino female gave me 6 good eggs, which yielded 1.2 albinos and 2.1 66% possible het albinos. Talk about great odds from a het x het breeding!!! I also have one more clutch incubating.......5 eggs from my Pastel male to a normal female. I didn't have very good odds earlier in the season with Pastels, so I'm hoping for a lot in this clutch! Things are looking good for next season too. I've got some new male breeders for this season, and a few new females that I'm hoping will be ready. I'll post more about that later!
Here are some pictures of some of the baby albinos!

May 15, 2007
Lots of exciting things are happening this spring.......another clutch of eggs has landed and my new treasures finally arrived! The pics tell the whole story!
I can't wait to start breeding the Spiders and crossing them into my other stock.......let the fun times begin!
March 26, 2007
Things are coming along nicely this season! This is my second female to ovulate this season......and she looks like she could lay lots of eggs! I'm really excited to see the babies that hatch from her this year. Last year she laid 5 eggs which resulted in 1 pastel and 4 normals. One of the normals was noticeably lighter and brighter than the other hatchlings, so it will be interesting to see if there are any more like that this year. Only time will tell!
March 13, 2007
I got my first eggs of the season! They were layed on March 9, and they are expected to hatch on May 3, 2007. They are the result of my Pastel male breeding a normal female. She laid 5 good eggs.....I'm hoping there are lots of Pastels in there!
February 6, 2007
Though I haven't updated much lately, it hasn't been because nothing is going on around here! There have been many breedings going on, and I'm really excited to see what will be produced this year! I should produce a bunch of pastels, normals, a few albinos (hopefully!!), and some possible het albinos. I also received some new cages last week from the Boaphile, so I have those set up and a few snakes moved in.
November 18, 2006
The breeding season is really starting to pick up.....my het albinos are finally breeding too! That was great to see, and hopefully it will result in some nice albino babies next summer. I have to say that albinos were the morph that really got me interested in Ball Pythons in the first place, and that project has really given me a goal to work towards. The Pastel breedings are also going well, and it looks like a promising year for that morph as well. Here are some pictures of some recent pairings.
I am also going to be adding some new treasures to the collection very soon.......pics will come when they arrive!
October 30, 2006
Hey Everyone! This page will be dedicated to updates on my breeding season here at Genesis Pythons, as well as anything else exciting that is going on. Keep checking back for updates! I'll try to post some pics as things happen.
Last weekend marked the official start of the 2006/2007 breeding season for me. I was going to wait until the beginning of November, but my females seemed to be ready. I put my RDR pastel male in with one of the girls, and it didn't take him long to remember what to do! He produced a gorgeous pastel male last summer (see currently available page), so I'm expecting some really nice pastels again next summer. I was also able to acquire a beautiful adult female het albino from Clint Gilders. This female was bred at Markus Jayne Ball Pythons the last two years and produced 6 albinos! I'm really hoping that she will breed with my het albino male that is ready to go. I have another het albino female already, but she wasn't big enough for this year......maybe next year!
Have a great night!
-Dan
